Frequently Asked Questions!

The hardshell or softshell title depends on the stage the lobster is in!
Hardshell lobsters have yet to shed their hard shell exterior (a normal process!), and therefore are packed full of meat. Their shell will be significantly firmer than softshell, making it harder to break into them. We recommend having lobster crackers on hand when purchasing hardshell lobsters. (Cracker and pick sets can be found in-store!)
Softshell lobsters have more recently shed their shell, making them less difficult to break into. While they are not as full of meat as the hardshell are, their meat tends to be more sweet and tender in comparison. Softshell lobsters typically can be opened with just your hands (and a little force!).

Unfortunately, no.
While we do cook our whole lobsters, we do not offer any prepared food items such as lobster rolls. Additionally, we do not offer seating to eat cooked lobster orders. All orders are take-out only.

While we do not ship our lobsters, we can pack your lobsters for travel!
We offer three different sizes of travel boxes (styrofoam, insulated coolers placed inside cardboard shipping boxes) depending on the amount of lobsters you hope to bring. When packing to travel, we use both cold gel packs and wet newspaper to ensure your seafood stays cold and fresh until they arrive — up to 24 hours.

Depends on what you plan to do with your lobster!
If you are simply making lobster rolls and similar dishes, then lobster meat will create less work in the long-run. Pre-picked for your convenience, a singular 1lb bag of lobster meat equates to about 6 whole 1⅛ lb lobsters.

We absolutely can!
We are able to cook all of our lobster, clam, and mussel orders at your request. Cooked lobsters will have an additional $1 charge per lobster, and clams/mussels will have an additional $1 charge per pound.
As we cook our lobsters on the half hour, we ask for notice at least 1hr prior to desired pick-up time (ex. if you want to pick up at 12:30, please give us a call at 11:30). Our earliest pick up time is at 10:30AM, and our latest is at 5:30PM.
You are also able to call ahead for your orders! We always recommend giving us a call as soon as you know your order, to ensure we have what you want in stock. We are able to take both cook orders up to 1 week in advance.
** On holiday weekends, we ask for at least 2HR notice for cook orders. Ideally, we recommend placing your order even further in advance, as we typically sell out on these weekends.

Yes you can, and we actually recommend it!
Because our stock is dependent on what is caught, it is never certain we will have an abundance of an item every week. We recommend placing your cooked or live order as soon as you have all the details, to ensure we are able to get you exactly what you want!
** Cook orders should be placed at least 1HR prior to desired pick-up time. On holiday weekends, we ask for 2HR notice.
** On holiday weekends, we recommend calling at the beginning of the week rather than day-of. These days are our busiest and we typically sell out.

We always rinse our clams before selling them in the shop. However, we can never guarantee 100% of the grit inside is gone. We recommend soaking your live clams in saltwater at home before cooking them.
-
Unfortunately, no.

Unfortunately, we do not offer seating to eat. Our seafood orders are for take-out only. However, there are plenty of local parks that offer seating to the public!
