Since opening our doors in 2009, Ancient Mariner has proudly served Southern Maine with fresh lobster and seafood from the Maine coast. While our shop may be small, we are mighty in our commitment to quality, service, and the traditions that make Maine seafood special!

Built from the ground up, Ancient Mariner has always been about more than just selling seafood. For more than 15 years, Gregg has poured his time and passion into every aspect of the business — spending long days on the water catching lobster, before returning to the shop to serve and talk to customers. In February 2026, he retired from lobstering after years of early mornings and hard work at sea, but he continues to be the heart of the shop, welcoming customers and running the business every day.

All of our lobster comes from the waters off Portland, Maine, where local lobstermen continue the proud tradition of bringing in the catch that has made our coastline famous. By working closely with local fishermen, we are able to offer seafood that is fresh, dependable, and true to its Maine roots.

Over the years, our small shop has grown a strong connection with the people around us. We are grateful for the loyal customers who have supported us since the beginning and for the new faces who continue to walk through our doors. Every conversation, every order, and every returning customer has helped shape who we are.
